R.I.S.E.: A Daily Rhythm for Emotional Health and Spiritual Freedom

By Pastor Creighton

Over the years, people have shared that I seem kinder, gentler, less intense, and more present than I used to be. I receive those as compliments 😄 and more importantly, I recognize them as evidence of the ongoing transformation Jesus has done in my life.

My temperament still makes me a driver. That hasn’t changed. But spiritual maturity is adaptability, and temperament is never an excuse for unhealthy behavior.

Our lives are meant to be a living testimony, especially to those closest to us. That’s why emotional health matters.

Why Emotional Health Matters

There are many emotional health practices. This is the one I return to every single day.

It takes discipline.
It takes prioritization.

But the Lord showed me a simple truth that reshaped my life.

Reflection is key to emotional health, and emotional health creates room for His presence to overflow in our lives.

His presence helps us surrender our expectations, walk in His gifts with humility and power, and remember that less is often more. Activity and productivity do not automatically produce eternal impact.

A Daily Practice That Creates Space for God

This rhythm is a daily practice. If it doesn’t happen in the morning, it happens later in the day. When it doesn’t happen at all, it feels like skipping a shower. Everything feels off.

Why every day?

Because every day we are emotionally impacted by
The brokenness of the world, people and circumstances
Our unhealthy beliefs, what Rich Villodas refers to as boulders

Reflection creates space for God to meet us in what we are carrying instead of letting it accumulate beneath the surface.

The R.I.S.E. Framework

R.I.S.E. is a simple four step rhythm designed to cultivate emotional health and spiritual freedom through daily reflection.

R Reflect

Slow down. Breathe. Center yourself.

Reflect on the previous day. Review meetings, conversations, and moments that stirred emotion. Identify where frustration, anger, sadness, anxiety, or fear surfaced.

Before moving on, allow yourself to fully acknowledge what you felt. Honesty is the doorway to transformation.

I Inquire

Ask God
What do You think about this situation?
What are You addressing in my heart?

Growth often happens from the inside out. Take time to journal what you sense Him saying without rushing toward resolution.

S Stabilize Your Emotions

Ask God for the emotion you need.

The Holy Spirit is not only our teacher. He is our Comforter. Emotional stability allows us to cooperate with God rather than react from wounded places.

Common emotions He gives supernaturally include peace, faith, hope, and safety.

E Engage

Ask the Lord if there is anything He wants you to do.

This step engages your will through Spirit led obedience. It shifts your focus from self protection to service and aligns daily life with God’s purposes.

Consistent obedience in small things accelerates freedom over time.

A Simple Next Step

The R.I.S.E. rhythm is built into the Daily Reflections inside the Ediphai app.

Commit to practicing it for 14 days. Not to strive harder. Simply to make room for God’s presence.

Small, faithful rhythms create lasting transformation.

Free people, free people.
