The heart of the local church is not just to gather, but to arise and shine in a time of great darkness. God’s vision has always been that every believer would walk as a minister right where they are placed in schools, the marketplace, government, families, and culture.
That kind of impact requires more than awareness. It requires activation.
Many believers discover their spiritual gifts but never move into development or deployment. Assessments can be helpful, but they are only a starting point. Too often, we stop once a result is identified instead of stepping into the journey of growth that follows.
Why Discovery Alone Is Not Enough
Spiritual gifts are not static traits. They are dynamic and relational, meant to be exercised and shaped over time.
Think of spiritual gifts like a Polaroid picture. The image does not appear instantly. It develops as the picture is exposed to light. In the same way, our gifts become clearer as we serve, take risks, and receive affirmation from others.
Some of the most impactful gifts in a believer’s life are latent. They only emerge through practice. That has been true in my own journey. Gifts like Faith, Word of Wisdom, and Word of Knowledge did not fully surface at the assessment stage. They developed over time through obedience, community, and experience.
